Society
Traditionalists
Most Gnomes firmly believe their species was initially created by a mad magician as part of a performance. He was just as surprised as they were when the gnomes continued to persist after the trick was finished. The trick had them appear after a red cap was shown to be completely empty before being turned over and having a fully dressed adult gnome dump out of it and end up wearing the cap at the end of the trick. The first of these gnomes was said to have appeared wearing the traditional bright gnomish colors and sporting the traditional gnomish beard, that is, a long beard along the chin, jaw and sideburns with no mustache. To this day many gnomes still wear the traditional red cap, bright colors and in the case of those that can grow one, the beard.
