Crossbows

Crossbows are a type of weapon defined by their similar function to bows. They use energy stored in the bowed arms of the weapon to launch straight fletched projectiles called a bolt. They differ from bows in that they are designed to mechanically crank and store the energy from the bow arms, allowing shots to be primed and then released with the pull of a lever or trigger, sending the bolt flying at incredible velocities.
