Information

While distantly related to dragons, drakes possess only a portion of their strengths. They are covered in small hard scales, sometimes having horns on their heads or backs, they have two legs and two large leathery bat-like wings. Their necks and tails are long and sinuous and they have razor sharp teeth and claws. Unlike dragons drakes are but mere beasts and lack their sentience and cunning. 

Behavior

Drakes behave much like other large hunting reptilians, often waiting patiently and quietly before moving in for the kill. They are opportunistic and mostly solitary but still congregate around food sources. Since they can fly and are more dangerous than what the average rancher or farmer can handle they often plague settlements with fowl or livestock. In rare cases they have been reported attacking mortals, this is usually in locations near their nesting grounds and is typically defensive rather than hunting behavior.

Tactics

Drakes are opportunistic ambush hunters. While they will work with other drakes to take down larger prey, they lack the communication and coordination of true pack hunters. They typically will fly to a good vantage point and engage their prey using their Flyby Attacks until the prey is weakened. At which point they will rush in and finish them with their Bite and Claw Attacks.

Drakes are frightened of Fire and will have to overcome their fear in order to attack a creature bearing a flame. 

Traits

Winged Flight I

The creature is capable of achieving flight by creating lift with wings it possesses.

Effect: The creature gains a flying movement speed of 6 Meters per Movement.

Ambush Hunter

The creature is capable of remaining perfectly still and blending with its surroundings so as to ambush prey.

Effect: The Creature gains a Destiny Die and +4 to all Stealth Skill Rolls.

It must make a new Stealth Skill Roll each time it Repositions.

Stealth Strike I

The creature excels at striking weak points against unaware creatures.

Effect: The creature gains a Destiny Die, a +2 bonus to Hit and 1 additional Damage Die when making Attacks vs Creatures that Have Not Detected or Cannot Detect it.

Multi-Strike I

The creature can attack multiple times in rapid succession.

Effect: The creature is considered to possess a total of 2 Melee Attack Actions per turn.

Scaled Hide I

The Creature Possesses a dense scaly hide that acts like fine Armor, protecting it from harm.

Effect: +4 AC, + 10 Armor Points.

The Creature Possesses Powerful Claws that it wields as a Natural Weapon.

The Creature possesses a fast flyby Attack.

Action: Melee Attack Action

Range: 1 Meter

Damage: 1d6 + 4 Slash Damage. Movement prior and after this attack does not provoke reaction attacks.

Quirks

PyroPhobia

The Creature has an unreasonable fear response to Fire. 

When the Creature is presented with Fire or Flames it must pass a DC 14 WIS Saving Throw or suffer from the Afraid Condition with the source being the fire until it passes that same WIS Saving throw at the end of one of its turns.
