Blobbin / Blobbins

A small amorphous conjured creature with a strong desire to help and a limited ability to do so.

Blobbin / Blobbins

Level 1 Entry

Small - Conjuring - Slime - Monoped

Information

Blobbins are magically conjured helpers formed from 100 milliliters of any vaguely slimy material — be it snail slime, handkerchief snot, swamp muck, or leftover pudding. With a basic conjuration spell and a blob of goo, any novice wizard can summon a Blobbin to serve as a familiar, assistant, or general-purpose helper.

They appear as small wobbling globs, usually vaguely humanoid and they may grow makeshift arms, eyes, mouths or hats depending on their summoner’s whims. They jiggle and inflate when excited and deflate slightly when sad. Though they lack proper mouths, they make squelching sounds and can approximate facial expressions through gooey surface tension.

Behavior

Blobbins are obedient, cheerful, and determined — but incredibly clumsy. They are slow to act, often trip over nothing, and routinely mistake random objects for their assigned task. Despite their flaws, they are beloved by their summoners due to their enthusiasm and unrelenting desire to be good.

In the wild (often from abandoned or forgotten summons), Blobbins may form "Blobmunes" where they pass simple thoughts to one another in the form of bubbling noises and synchronized wiggles. These groups rarely pose any threat, but may slowly and adorably raid a pantry and consume all the jam and sardines.

Tactics

Blobbins do not engage in combat unless ordered, and even then, they are ineffective. In a fight, they may try to slap enemies with weak pseudopods, throw objects (badly), or distract opponents with their wiggles. Most wizards use them as distractions, bait, or impromptu doorstops.

If left to their own devices during battle, a Blobbin may attempt to hide behind something and vibrate nervously.

Traits

Gooform

The Blobbin’s body is pliable and jelly-like.

Effect: The creature can squeeze through gaps as small as 3 centimeters and is immune to fall damage, but it cannot wear armor or wield weapons effectively. Blobbins cannot lift or carry objects heavier than 2 kgs.

Sound Mimicry (Limited)

The Blobbin can copy simple sounds or words.

Effect: The creature can mimic a sound or short phrase it has heard in the last 24 hours. This is mostly used by blobbins to imitate its summoner’s voice or make fart noises.

Trained in Helpfulness

Blobbins are trained to assist with tasks — poorly.

Effect: The creature gains Training in the Skill of the Casters Choice. Their Training Bonus is 2.

Summoned Creature

Blobbins are not natural creatures and are easily replaced.

Effect: The Blobbin does not eat, sleep, or breathe or reproduce. If destroyed, it collapses into a puddle with a sad wet squelch and a final plop. It may be resurrected with 100ml of goo and the “Conjure Blobbin” Spell. The resurrected blobbin is the same as the previous in every way, including: Level, Trained Skills, Appearance and Personality.
